Enjoying The Ride

Loving the Bike, “Enjoy Your Ride” has become an important part of this site. It’s pretty much a self-explanatory slogan, but the meaning of it goes back quite a while and has a nice little story to it.

Back in 1999, before I was married and had kids, I spent some time living and working on the island of St. Kitts. This was the first time around….a few years later, I lived there for a longer period of time with my family. Back then, I stayed with a friend in a rural part of the island. I didn’t have a car (or trans, as they like to say) so my only method of transportation was by mountain bike. Now the terrain of St. Kitts is not as hilly as some islands, but definitely a whole lot more mountainous than what I grew up with on the Prairies of Canada. So my 40 minute bike commute to the beach where I was working often got a little demanding.

7 tips for nomads on a budget trips

Be flexible, take advantage of deals. There are times when a particular destination or site is either cheaper or more expensive. Find that information and take advantage of it.
Saving Up and Cutting Cost on Trips
If you know how much things cost, where to find deals and what to expect, you’ll be able to budget better. Don’t feel shy to ask hotel staffs, taxi drivers and be friendly with the locals to ask them where they like to eat and drink. Of course, there are mobile applications and websites that help you find the best deal for the money.

Far Away Places

When I am not traveling, my time is devoted to my two children. Time at the lake, day trips, sporting events and being with our friends are some of our favorite things to do. Outside of these, I enjoy a good book, cooking, music and writing. Please be sure to follow my blog to hear about some of my extraordinary travel experiences.
My hope is to inspire you to take that luxury vacation you have always dreamt of. Or to tap into your adventurous side, you know you have within you. I’d love to share stories one day of our travels driven by curiosity and experiences, from one traveler to another.

Peaceful Easy Feeling

“Peaceful Easy Feeling” is a song written by Jack Tempchin and recorded by the Eagles. It was the third single from the band’s 1972 debut album Eagles. The single reached No. 22 on the charts and is one of the band’s most popular songs. Glenn Frey sings the lead vocal, with Bernie Leadon providing the main harmony vocal (starting in the beginning of the second verse) and Randy Meisner completing this three-part harmony.

Tommy Shannon, the former bass player for Stevie Ray Vaughan, stated that “Peaceful Easy Feeling” was playing on the radio when he found out about the helicopter accident that took Vaughan’s life. We’d sit in front of the picture window and watch the beautiful girls on the bus stop bench and fall in love with them until their bus came. We talked in those days about how love never seems to show up until you stop looking for it. But, as young guys, we were unable to stop looking for love even for one day.
